How would I cite Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording)?

I bought it from iTunes. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote all the songs but various artists sing on the album.

Answer

This is the form for a music recording from p. 209 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

Writer, A. (Copyright year). Title of song. [Recorded by B. B. Artist if different from writer]. On Title of album. [Medium of recording: CD, record, cassette, etc.]. Location: Label. (Date of recording if different from copyright date).

You will need to head back into iTunes for some info. I assume you should be able to determine what album you downloaded the music from, which would give you, date & place of publication/recording.

Then, your actual citation would look something like this –

White, T. (2017). No one ever sings about Hamilton on Rocky & Bullwinkle. [Recorded by Small Wally & His

Polka-A-Go-Go]. On Millard Fillmore: The musical. [iTunes]. Duluth: Studio Up the Shore.
