How do I cite a PowerPoint presentation from a conference proceeding?

Answer

How you cite this is going to depend on whether or not others can easily access the information you used. If you got the PowerPoint from a website you could use this form from the APA Style Guide to Electronic References (p. 31).

Online lecture notes or PowerPoint slides

Author, A. A. (year). Title of presentation [Lecture notes or PowerPoint slides].

     Retrieved from http://xxxxx

My example -

White, T. (2012). Why does everyone hate APA? [PowerPoint slides]. Retrieved from http://xxx

But, if the PowerPoint was from a conference and therefore not easily available from the Web, you could consider it an unpublished conference proceeding, and cite it as such, from the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th ed. (p. 206).

Paper presentation or poster session:
Presenter,  A. A.  (Year, Month). Title of paper or poster. Paper or poster session presented at the
                meeting of Organization name, Location.

My example.

White, T. (2012, November).  Why does everyone hate APA? PowerPoint presentation at the meeting of the

American Association of APA Haters, Duluth, MN.
