How do I cite an online video series in APA as a reference and in text?
Answer
I think I would treat each interview separately, which will require separate citations (otherwise the viewer/reader will have problems knowing who in the project is speaking).
We can use this as an example from p. 26 of APA Style Guide to Electronic Resources, 6th edition.
Streaming video (e.g., YouTube video)
Author, A. A. [User name]. (year, month day). Title of video [Video file]. Retrieved
from http://xxxxx
Here is how you could do one interview -
United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs. National Center for PTSD. AboutFace. ( 2012. October 2). Richard
Adams [Video file]. Retrieved from http://www.ptsd.va.gov/apps/AboutFace/
The author’s name is a bit convoluted, but it is custom with a government agency to go from the largest department down. Also, if you think of it “AboutFace” doesn’t give you much context as to who these folks are. The longer name lets you know it’s part of VA, which should help establish credibility.
For your in-text citations, see this library page - http://libguides.css.edu/content.php?pid=61826&sid=454619
You are going to run into the problem of more than one author in a single year. See the box “multiple works by the same author in the same year?’ in the right-hand column for an example (you basically will be lettering the citations by the same author in the same year).
Good luck.
