How do I form an in text citation including both the author and the secondary source when an author quotes another source in their article?

My question stems from Vicki D. Lachman's article "Practical Use of the Nursing Code of Ethics: Part I" and I would like to use one of her quotes from the American Nurses Association

Answer

This is a good question. It is called using a secondary source and usually they should try to be avoided because they can be confusing. In short, you want to make it clear in your paper that you are using the American Nurses Association as a source and then in parentheses you would have the author and year and page number of the artilce you are quoting from as this is what will be in your references list.

To see what this looks like, please see our APA LibGuide. The link to the page is here and look at question 2: http://libguides.css.edu/content.php?pid=61826&sid=454616  [Question 2].

Good luck!
