How do I site the authors hyphenated name?
In Text referencing, e.g. Authors Name: E. Milling Kinard.... should the intext be Milling Kinard or Kinard?
Answer
An in-text reference always leads back to your works cited, so the first thing you need to do is build your citation. That should answer your question.
Looking at the name, even though it is not hyphenated, I would think the person is E. Milling Kinard, therefore in your citation he or she would be listed as ...
Milling Kinard, E.
This does not seem to make sense ... Kinard, E. M. ... since it would imply Milling is the middle name as opposed to part of the last name.
So, even though it will look confusing in the in-text citation, I think you need to go with, say, (Milling Kinard, 2013), since the in-text citation must lead back alphabetically to your reference citation.
