How do I cite a press release from the Internet?

Answer

The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 6th edition does not offer a specific example for a press release found online. Here is what we could do using the basic website citation from p. 32 of APA Style Guide to Electronic Resources.

[A basic citation for a website is as follows] -

Author, A. A. (year). Title of document [Format]. Retrieved from http://xxxxx

  • The basic reference template for any information you get off a website is made up of four pieces: author, date, title (with a description of format in brackets), and source (the URL).

We could modify it to this –

Author, A. A. (year). Title of document [Press release]. Retrieved from http://xxxxx

An example would be –

The College of St. Guinefort. (2013, November 18). College responds to student protests over APA – It’s

     cruel, but it’s not unusual
[Press release]. Retrieved from www.csg.edu/woof!-apalives!
