How do I cite an author more than once?

Any time you use a direct quote from an author's work you will need to cite it, using the author's name, date of publication, and page or page numbers. Depending on how you construct your sentence can make a difference as to what information will appear inside the parentheses of an in-text, or parenthetical reference.
I am assuming you are using APA? The majority of questions I receive are about APA.
Anytime you summarize the ideas of an author you will also need to create an in-text citation. However, since you are not directing quoting the author you will not need to list a page number.

If you have multiple authors of an article, or a long government/corporate name, there are some shortcuts. Usually you will need to cite the author in full the first time, and then you may do some limited abbreviating. Examples are available in the link above.
