Solar is an Ebsco product. Therefore, the virtual folder is provided by Ebsco and is considered to be an Ebsco folder.

To create an Ebsco folder in Solar, follow these steps:

  • Click on the Sign In link in the upper right corner.
  • When the next page comes up, click on the link "Create a New Account."
  • Fill out the online form.
  • Choose whatever username and password you would like. You do not need to use your CSS username and password.
  • Click "Save Changes." Your account is now created.

To save items to your virtual folder, first make sure you are logged into your virtual folder. Then, click on the folder icon for each item you want to save. They will automatically be saved to your folder.

One thing to remember is that you MUST be logged into your folder. If you are not logged in to your folder, then the folder will be temporary and the items will NOT be saved. They will disappear when you close out of the database or if the database times out. Items cannot be recovered if this happens.

Because your folder is an Ebsco folder, this virtual folder can be used in any Ebsco database (ex. Business Source Complete, CINAHL, MedLine, etc.). Also, it can be accessed anywhere you have access to the Internet.

Finally, be sure to write your username and password down. The CSS Library will not have access to this information. In the event you forget your username and password, use the prompts to be sent this information by Ebsco. You will find them on the Sign In page.
